Why you should care!

How does it affect your life?
Why would you piss off the authorities and draw attention to yourself?

Because…
We live in a surreal, superficial, virtual world
that even I don’t understand or approve of at times.
But the truth is…this parallel universe of the Internet and social media is our new reality.
Just as a person’s bank balance and assets determine his wealth….their online followers quantifies their position, power and success.

Ask any celebrity. They’ll tell you how this virtual number has now become an important part of their introduction, and their asking price.
They determine how much to charge for an endorsement based on the number of followers they can reach. More millions the better!
Truth is indeed stranger than fiction!

Which also means that anyone who wants to remain in power..a celebrity, a multinational organisation, a spiritual guru or a world leader…ALL of them have an eye on this fictitious indicator of their success.
They study algorithms and data and plan policies and strategies according to the tide of public opinion.

What this means is…Our Voice Matters!
The words may not be important. They don’t even have to be creative, original, unique or impressive.
But every ‘like, share, retweet’ is our endorsement and message to the people in power.
So do your bit, join in the conversation of anything that stirs your soul, even if you feel silly because the people in your immediate circle wonder why you’re getting involved.

There are many who choose to remain quiet,
who prefer to vent only in their private, small safe circles at dinner table conversations and
that’s ok too. To each their own.
But make no mistake. Lending your voice, meek and quiet as it is all by itself, has the power to become a part of a much larger roar that can contribute to global solutions.

In case you’re hesitating to speak up because
‘Why should I invite trouble?’
Why would you, as long as you’re politically correct and courteous? Making a suggestion or requesting a change is unlikely to get you into trouble, especially when millions want the same. But your voice definitely adds to the required numbers and eventually affects your life.

What difference does your opinion make?’
The answer is: it makes a HUGE difference.

It’s no coincidence that world leaders went numb, froze and looked the other way on Day 1 of Ukraine’s invasion.
But when #PresidentZelenskyy and the people of #Ukraine used this power of social media to involve the average citizens of the world, because they believed in their heart that no matter what world leaders decide keeping their nation’s best interests at heart, there were many people globally, who empathised with them…it helped.
Average people from every single country responded, voiced their support and if nothing else, made them feel less alone.
And whether you believe it or not, their leaders noticed this response and felt compelled to swing into action.

Because anybody who is a somebody has only one fear…of becoming a nobody!

So use your voice. Not as a weapon of toxicity to rant and criticise, but to appreciate, to help, to solve.
It Matters, it Contributes, it’s Powerful!
And it follows the Law of Karma…you never know when someone’s tiny show of support will give you a world of hope.
