Friday…Saturday…Someday…

So many somedays,

How many will be mine?

At the start of this adulthood game,

It was just a tiny pile,

filed away neatly in a compartment of my mind.

When did it grow, I wonder?

Little by little, one day at a time,

Into this overwhelming serpentine.

Someday we’ll do this…somewhere we will go,

How do we even begin to tackle them all?

Slotting some into definitelys, others into maybes?

Or is it easier to just leave them buried,

under that more important ‘priorities’ file?

While that has so far been most fulfilling,

The writing of our life story’s outline,

But with many milestones already reached,

This meticulously hidden bucket list,

These thrilling pages of secret desires,

Once content to be neglected,

Now, insist on coming alive.

Maybe we could start off slow,

one wish at a time.

And see how far we can go,

Tickling our fancy, ticking our whims,

All while praying we have enough time,

That the number of our todays…will hopefully…

outlast our somedays!
