Jungle Magic….inspiration: Pench National Park

There are no rules yet unexplained discipline
There are no schools but what an education
From birth each one knows the purpose of its life
Hunt, eat, sleep, protect and survive
I close my eyes and listen to the jungle band
Millions of creatures and yet no fight for land
The jungle misleads us as quiet and still
A closer look reveals swarming life within
Who took the time to make so many species?
Each with its own trait, colour and notoriety.
Sssh! the majestic tiger’s on the prowl
Perched safely on the tree above, the monkeys incessantly call
The deer are alert, their activity halts
One helpless prey…nerve tingling thrill…one swift kill!
Detached and relieved, jungle life resumes, only to repeat the drill
No mourning, no grieving, no prayer service
Such is life! They know its secret.
Reluctantly I have to return as civilisation calls
I’ll miss the snakes in my bathroom and the lizards on my walls
Home to the busy city life, and the most dangerous animals of all!
Someday I’ll come back to be one with nature again…
To the jungle where we really belong!
